At Harmony Intelligence, our mission is to ensure the safe flourishing of humanity in a world with ever more advanced AI systems. We recognize the tremendous potential of AI to positively impact the world, but also the risks AI poses if not developed carefully. Join our motivated team and help steer transformative AI in a safe and positive direction!
We're a rapidly growing, remote first startup with folks in San Francisco and Sydney. Though we’re new, we're already making a big impact -- we’ve contributed to the safety evaluations of frontier models from leading AI labs, published two AI safety papers to massively positive reception (including 9 citations in the International AI Safety Report chaired by Yoshua Bengio), and spoken in front of an Australian Senate hearing on AI.
Our present focus is on preventing AI risks related to cybersecurity. Cybersecurity is undergoing a tectonic shift due to AI, and ensuring that people & organizations remain protected from cyberattacks is necessary for humanity's future to be safe & secure. We're working to develop sophisticated cyber defenses capable of matching the unprecedented speed and sophistication of cyberattacks in the AI era.
Our world-class team is made up of deeply experienced startup builders, managers, and engineers from orgs including Plaid, Vow, 0x, Duke University, and MATS.
As a remote-first team, it's important we find time to collaborate and support one another. To help facilitate this, we hire within a limited time zone range.
We consider candidates located between the Eastern Time Zone (ET) and westward to the Australian Western Standard Time Zone (AWST) (see the map above). This includes Oceania, East Asia, most of North America, and parts of South America. We can only consider candidates primarily based in these regions or able to relocate there.
Our collaboration hours are 10pm - 3am UTC during your local weekdays (Examples: 6pm-11pm EDT / 3pm-8pm PDT / 8am-1pm AEST). We use this time for stand-ups, brainstorming sessions, pair programming sessions, and other meetings. You don’t necessarily have to work every day during these hours, but we expect you to generally be available to join meetings and collaborate with the team when needed.
Collaboration hours are a general rule of thumb, not a hard requirement. We understand that you may have some non-work needs (e.g. caregiver responsibilities, recovering from illness, personal emergencies) on certain days. As long as you communicate with your team and manager and are generally available during collaboration hours, that works for us 🙂.
As a Full-Stack Software Engineer at Harmony, you’ll have a unique opportunity to have a big impact! Your work will be multi-faceted, spanning software engineering, product ideation, project planning, applying cutting edge AI research, building customer relationships, and more. We're looking for someone with both broad engineering experience and deep expertise in a few job-relevant domains — a jack of all trades, master of some. For example, someone with deep expertise in back-end development with notable front-end experience, or vice versa.
We care more about growth potential than exact skills and experience fit. Our field is always evolving, and we embrace learning as we go. If you meet many of the criteria below but not all of them, we encourage you to apply anyway!
